Over the years, many Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates team members have participated in one of approximately 200 community Light the Night Walks held annually to generate funds and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The evening walking events unite blood cancer survivors and their family, friends, and colleagues in a nationwide effort to find a cure for blood cancer and to remember those people who have succumbed to the disease.
As the world’s largest voluntary blood cancer advocacy agency, LLS has just announced a new far-reaching collaboration, the Alliance for Resource Collaboration in Hematology (ARCH), to provide a comprehensive online resource for people with lymphoma. The partnership involves four other leading cancer organizations joining LLS:
– Association of Community Cancer Centers, the nation’s primary advocate for community cancer program professionals and facilities.
– CancerCare, the nation’s top cancer support organization aimed at helping patients navigate the financial and practical challenges of cancer.
– Genentech, a biotechnology firm focused on developing pharmaceuticals to treat life-threatening illnesses.
– Lymphoma Research Foundation, the country’s largest nonprofit dedicated to funding lymphoma research.
According to LLS officials, ARCH offers an invaluable online information resource that outlines the many avenues of support that are available to patients with blood cancers. The new website helps these individuals to understand the full range of medical treatments, financial programs, peer support communities, counseling, and other options available to them.
The initiative is especially important for the 85 percent of patients who receive care at smaller community treatment centers rather than at one of the nation’s main academic cancer care facilities. For these patients and their doctors, information resources have not traditionally been easily available.
The innovative initiative aims to help to improve the lives of the millions of people dealing with lymphoma, as well as the family and friends who support them. Visit ARCH at LymphomaResources.com for more information.
